The Foundation of a Thriving Landscape

Published: May 1, 2026

As we move into the 2026 growing season, we want to share the single most important secret to a beautiful, low-maintenance landscape: Right Plant, Right Place.

It sounds simple, but this core principle is the difference between a garden that struggles and one that flourishes. This approach ensures that every selection—from ornamental shrubs to shade trees—is perfectly suited to your site’s specific microclimate, including soil quality, drainage patterns, and sunlight exposure. When we design or maintain your property, we look at several critical factors before a single hole is dug:

Sun & Shade: A sun-loving lavender will fail in the shade, while a delicate hosta will scorch in the afternoon heat.

Mature Size: That “cute” foundation shrub might grow to 10 feet wide, eventually blocking your windows or crowding your walkway.

Soil & Drainage: Some plants love “wet feet” near a downspout, while others require well-draining soil to avoid root rot.

Hardiness & Climate: We select varieties proven to withstand our local temperature extremes and rainfall patterns.

Why it matters to you

Lower Maintenance: Plants in the right spot need less pruning, less watering, and fewer fertilizers.

Sustainability: Using native or well-adapted plants supports local pollinators and requires fewer resources.

Cost Savings: You avoid the expense of replacing plants that fail to thrive because they were poorly suited for their location

“Right Plant Right Place” is good practice in creating a landscape that works with nature and you garden space, not against it. We look forward to helping your garden reach its full potential.
